Epsilon Delivers Advanced Pharmaceutical Spray Drying Capability for Leading CDMO

Epsilon was appointed to deliver the introduction of pharmaceutical spray drying into an existing oral solid dose (OSD) facility. Recognised as one of the most technically demanding pharmaceutical unit operations, spray drying requires specialist process expertise to achieve reliable scale-up, high product recovery and GMP compliance, and to support upstream and downstream processes.

Using advanced process modelling and pharmaceutical engineering experience, Epsilon identified critical capacity pinch points, challenged the original equipment sizing and optimised the process design before procurement. This early intervention reduced project risk and ensured the facility was designed around the complete manufacturing process, not simply the installation of a spray dryer.

From FEED through detailed design to installation and commissioning, Epsilon delivered a fully integrated solution covering solvent handling, ATEX compliance, containment, utilities and recovery systems. Our extensive knowledge enabled us to design and supply a twin-vessel feed preparation system with N₂ as the basis of safety.

The result was a robust, future-ready manufacturing platform enabling the CDMO to introduce a high-value technology capability with improved efficiency, reduced risk and confidence in long-term operation.

Electrical, Controls & Commissioning Engineer Appointment

Epsilon Pharmaservices is pleased to announce the appointment of Elliot Wheeler as our new Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer, further strengthening our in-house controls and engineering capability.

Elliot brings extensive experience in control systems, instrumentation, and electrical engineering, having spent many years commissioning systems across a wide range of commercial and industrial environments. His practical, hands-on expertise will significantly enhance and support Epsilon's established controls department as we continue to deliver high-quality engineering solutions for the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors.

Prior to joining Epsilon, Elliot held the position of Electrical Engineering Manager, where he was responsible for electrical control panel design, managing complex electrical installations, maintenance programmes, and commissioning activities. Earlier in his career, he also gained valuable experience as a lead site service and installation engineer, giving him a comprehensive understanding of projects from design through to installation, commissioning, and ongoing operational support.

Elliot's broad technical knowledge and practical experience make him an excellent addition to the Epsilon team, and we are delighted to welcome him as we continue to expand our capabilities and support our growing client base.
